Peachtree Curling Association COVID Guidelines

Updated Peachtree Curling Association COVID Guidelines

INTRODUCTION

In an effort to help protect you and other participants from the spread of COVID-19, Peachtree Curling has established special procedures for our current activities.

In developing these procedures, we considered information from a variety of sources, such as USA Curling & GNCC, as well as CDC, Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) & governmental guidelines. We will continue to monitor the situation and CDC/government guidelines, and update our procedures as appropriate. We will adhere to federal, state, and Cobb County mandates.

While we cannot guarantee that our procedures will avoid transmission of COVID-19 (or any other communicable disease), we believe they reduce the risk to our curling community.

Now…. You also need to do your part! Please become familiar with and follow the requirements. We have included a thorough list below, so extra attention is needed until we all get used to this new system. Take the time now to read carefully. We thank you for your attention and cooperation.

Out of respect for our entire PCA curling community, all participants must know & follow these mandatory participant requirements.

REQUIREMENTS FOR CLUB ACCESS

Assume the Risk. Consider your particular situation and whether you want to assume the risk. To participate, you must sign this requirements form and our Release confirming you do.

Limit on Entry. Only curlers in the scheduled league and ice makers may be in the facility unless a curler requires assistance from another person.

Timing of Entry. You may not enter the Club until 20 minutes prior to the start of your draw time.

Social Distancing is required. Maintain at least 6 feet social distance from other participants inside and outside the facility including the parking lot. We understand that during the course of play there might be an instance when you and another participant inadvertently violate the distancing, but we expect your best efforts at all times.

Come Prepared to Curl. Come dressed for curling and put on shoes in the broomstacking area where socially distanced seating will be available. There will be no use of the changing area. Bathroom access will still be available.

Attendance Record. The League Chair and a designated person or Safety Officer will coordinate and record who is present at the draw/session. One of them will be responsible for checking in any person who arrives late.

Personal Items. Remove all personal items including curling equipment from the club.

REQUIREMENTS FOR PLAYING

Hammer. Stone color & hammer will be predetermined and listed on the schedule.  Consequently, there will be no need for a coin toss.

Starting the game. We will be starting our games at opposite sides of the building. Sheets A & C start at scoreboard end, and sheet B will start from the entrance door end.

No More Handshakes. There will be no pre or post game handshakes, elbow taps, or other physical contact. Simply say “Good Curling!”

Brooms, Stabilizers, and Sliders. We are encouraging everyone to purchase their own broom or stabilizer and mark it with tape or another identifying feature. There can be no sharing of brooms, sliders or stabilizers (other than between family members). You may use the Club-provided equipment, but the Club item you select to use that game is to be used only by you for that game. If you would like to purchase your own equipment, please see the following options from Goldline. If you’d like to order using the club discount please email [email protected] and we’ll place a group order.

Player’s Stones. Prior to the start of the game each player must wipe down their own stones and only use those stones throughout the game. Do not touch other stones except with your broom and/or foot.

Designated Standing Location. We will have yellow and blue markers in the ice near the sideline of each sheet to assist players in determining where to stand while maintaining physical distance.

Coughing/Sneezing.If you cough or sneeze, we encourage you to use hand sanitizer again before touching a rock or other surface.

Tissues. If you need to use a tissue, dispose of the tissue promptly in a trash can and use hand sanitizer again before touching a rock or other surface.

The Participant Requirements may change from time to time based upon the current situation. You must follow the most current version of the Requirements.
